The federal high court, Abuja on Tuesday struck out the breach of fundamental human rights suit filed by wife of former president, Patience Jonathan against the economic and financial crimes commission, EFCC.
In determining the issues in the suit, justice John Tsoho held that the applicant's case was not sustainable and not entitled to all the reliefs sought.
The former first lady in a motion on notice dated 30th June 2017 asked the court to compel the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC), to respect her fundamental rights to privacy, dignity and fair hearing as enshrined in section 37 of the 1999 constitution which she claimed has been grossly violated.
Patience who also demanded the sum of two billion naira from the EFCC as general damages and compensation also wanted a court declaration that the indiscriminate freezing of her bank accounts and those of her relatives by the EFCC without any invitation or interrogation is a violation of her rights to own properties.
