The Nigerian Army has described Boko Haram’s latest video as one of its ploys to get the mainstream media to its extremist propaganda.
Speaking at the National Defence College in Abuja, the chief of army staff, lieutenant General Tukur Buratai said it was unfortunate and counter-productive that the media rushed to spread such messages from the Boko Haram leader to his fighters and sympathizers.
General Buratai also said the army will however continue to adapt to the evolving security challenges and operational environments in the bid to protect the nation.
In another development, Nigerian troops conducting clearance operations in Sambisa forest have destroyed a major explosive device making factory operated by Boko Haram terrorists.
Several terrorist were killed in the operation which was conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force providing close air support to ground troops.
