Chairman of the independent national electoral commission, INEC, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu is seeking the collaboration of the economic and financial crimes commission, EFCC, to monitor amount of money spent by political parties and candidates during campaigns for the 2019 general elections.
The INEC chairman who received the acting chairman of the EFCC Ibrahim Magu at the INEC headquarters on Thursday said there should be limits to the amounts political parties’ candidates and friends spend on campaigns and sources of such money spent will be traced.
Acting chairman of the EFCC on his part assured INEC of his commission’s support for a transparent electoral process come 2019.
INEC insisted it is not working for any political party or candidate in the forthcoming elections.
