Aggrieved judge behind DSS, EFCC probe of judges

Findings have indicated that a former highly placed judge who retired from his position in 2013 is behind the recent raid on some judges by the DSS.
He is said to have provided the information used by the security and law enforcement agencies to invade the homes of some Judges of the Federal High Court and Justices of the Supreme Court who were apprehended two weeks ago over alleged corruption.
Ripples Nigeria gathered that the retired Justice who left office in a bitter fued with the Supreme Court and the National Judicial Council (NJC) wants to take some pounds of flesh by damaging the reputation of the two institutions.
Displeased with what it considered as outright intimidation and humiliation of the judicial officers, NJC after its emergency meeting a fortnight ago, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rein in the DSS and other security agencies to respect the rule of law.
But a source who is close to the inner workings of the Presidency, said some cabal members are using the aggrieved Justice to concoct some of the allegations being used by the DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to harass the judicial institution.
“These security agencies are receiving the tacit support of the former PCA who resigned from his position and retired from service in a controversial manner,” said the source.
According to the source, the controversial PCA had a running battle with both NJC and justices of the Supreme Court in the past over several rulings he allegedly delivered in favour of the then opposition elements who are now in power as the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“You know he is a consultant to an online news platform where he has been contributing on the issues of corruption and related legal matters. Also recall his running battle with the NJC and the Supreme Court and now the judges that sat on his cases are the ones he is pointing fingers at by giving information so that the DSS and EFCC can take a closer look at them.
“Recall that there are two cases he handled that created the problem for him..The Sokoto election appeal panels that he brought to Abuja and allegedly gave them what to follow to favour his pupported paymasters then (some of who are in power today).” the source added.
