Jonathan Rowe contract talks set for end of season

Norwich City top scorer Jonathan Rowe says he is "focused on his football" and is not thinking about his future.

Rowe has reportedly been linked with a Premier League move after scoring 12 times so far this campaign, including a brace in a 2-2 draw with Ipswich.

The 20-year-old's current deal runs until July 2025, with the club having the option of an extra year.

"I'm not trying to let all that noise affect my football," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We'll review it in the summer, but for now, I'll knuckle down, focusing on trying to get us back to the Premier League."

Norwich City fans are used to selling star players, with Max Aarons (Bournemouth) and Andrew Omobamidele (Nottingham Forest) both leaving for big money in the summer.

After Rowe's blistering start to the season, which saw him score in five consecutive games and earn a call up to the England Under-21 squad, supporters could have been forgiven for fearing a January departure.

But head coach David Wagner sought to ease those concerns.

"He has two and a half years left on his contract so we are totally in control. Jonny is happy with his contract, we are happy with his performances," he said.

Head coach David Wagner isn't expecting to lose winger Jonathan Rowe next month

Newly appointed sporting director Ben Knapper will be the man in charge of negotiations, whether it sees a new contract or a big money move away from Carrow Road.

"Ben is in conversation with Jonny's parties. At the end of the season, they'll sit together and talk about his future. This is what they've agreed.

"I think this is the right call because it's important to be focused on the pitch. We try everything to support him as good as we can as coaching staff.

"It's a good first half of a season. Now we have to make sure he does exactly the same in the second part of the season and hopefully he will do."
